While towing, I would intermittently blow the fuse link with the SMI controller unit in the Jeep. A quick call to SMI suggested the solution. Apparently some SMI units needed a slightly higher amp fuse due to the the initial power draw from the vacuum pump when braking. I replaced the stock fuse. amp if I recall. a 20 amp and no more
